Not much posting today
Ha! Just kidding.
HERE IS THE NEW Malkin(s)watch. GO THERE NOW.
Losing a leg might be "character building," but most would prefer to keep their current complement of limbs rather than gain some character, and most kids would rather live their lives without ridicule and beatings than "learn to toughen up."No such common sense from Malkin. I hope she doesn't have to learn the hard way how damaging bullies can be to a child.
Jeff Jarvis is unhappy with the ruling:Unlike Malkin, I detect an ever-so-faint whiff of sarcasm in that copyright notice. Maybe I'm the only one.Grokster loses. Thus so do toolmakers and enablers of any sort ... which, after all, is the very definition of the internet. The decision is terribly out of sync with the future. It sure is easy to be a Share Bear when it comes to the pilfering of other peoples' copyrighted works. Jarvis, however, isn't quite so public-spirited when it comes to sharing his own work:COPYRIGHT NOTICE: It's mine, I tell you, mine! All mine! You can't have it because it's mine! You can read it (please); you can quote it (thanks); but I still own it because it's mine! I own it and you don't. Nya-nya-nya. So there. COPYRIGHT 2001-2003-20?? by Jeff Jarvis
Hat tip: Opinipundit, who comments, "We have manuals on how to properly handle the Koran and humanely treat prisoners, paying respect their cultural sensitivities, they have manuals on how to properly torture and decapitate hostages."Right! That's what makes us better than them. That's what makes America America. And that's what the defenders of Guantanamo would have us ignore.
Yup.
When, on television, we see a person in a persistent vegetative state, one who will never recover, we believe that allowing the natural and merciful end to her ordeal is more loving than imposing government power to keep her hooked up to a feeding tube. Those of us on the left and in the middle who believe must take back our faith - or at least public perception of it. As a Christian, James Dobson's brand of Christianity is as foreign and unfamiliar to me - to many of us - as anything Jim Jones could have come up with.
When we see an opportunity to save our neighbors' lives through stem cell research, we believe that it is our duty to pursue that research, and to oppose legislation that would impede us from doing so...
For us, religion should be inclusive, and it should seek to bridge the differences that separate people. We do not exclude from worship those whose opinions differ from ours. Following a Lord who sat at the table with tax collectors and sinners, we welcome to the Lord's table all who would come. Following a Lord who cited love of God and love of neighbor as encompassing all the commandments, we reject a political agenda that displaces that love.
Just received this e-mail from Steve Gill:Not necessarily one of the most egregious things you've said on the floor of the Senate, though, Dick.Vice President Dick Cheney appeared this morning on Steve Gill Mornings in Nashville, Tennessee and was asked about Dick Durbin's comparison of U.S. troops at Guantanamo Bay to Nazis. The Vice President noted that he had to be "careful about what I say since this is a family show" but that the "comparison is one of the more egregious things I've heard on the floor of the U.S. Senate."
...If you are proud of this country and don't want its identity to vanish, you must teach U.S. history to your children. They won't learn it in school. This nation's memory will go blank unless you act.Unfortunately, under George W. Bush's administration, the United States' moral authority is rapidly becoming just that - history. And that's not Dick Durbin's fault.
Some of M.C.'s descriptions match accounts...Not all. Just some. No, not really. In fact, it's kind of the definition of "corroboration."
Also, M.C.'s descriptions "match accounts" given by others. That simply means that some of M.C.'s claims resemble claims of other detainees--a far cry from "corroboration" don't ya think?
There is simply no way that interrogators and guards would subject a young boy to harsher treatment than a high-value detainee like al-Qatani whose interrogation methods had to be personally approved by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. When I sleep, I dream that even the Malkins will recognize that absolutist, common-sense statements like the one above are inoperative under this administration.
It is not an exaggeration, either, to claim that racists and other extremists indeed are the core of the Minutemen's support. While the project no doubt has attracted some people of good will with genuine concerns about immigration -- and not just about filthy Latinos bringing crime to their fair havens -- the activist, working ranks of footsoldiers are riddled throughout with Aryan Nations members, supporters of the Klan, and vicious anti-Semites.
Gack. Drudge has put up Kerry's college photo apparently included in the release. Right Wing Howler does a compare and contrast...Once again I have to ask, is Michelle Malkin really the person to be making fun of other peoples' pictures?
John Podhoretz says, "Let it go." Isn't that what the Swift Vets have been told for three decades? Thank God they didn't "let it go." Otherwise, Kerry might be in the White House today.God forbid I agree with John Podhoretz, but aren't witch hunts supposed to end once the witch is burned?
The case will bring front and center Mexico's role as a safe haven for illegal alien fugitive criminals.
STATE DEPARTMENT'S BRIGHT IDEA: SPA DAYS FOR TERRORISTS!Arab equals terrorist in the Malkins' mind. All future claims to the contrary are null and void.
