Wingnuts Just Don't *Get* It

Michelle Malkin: NEWSWEEK GIVES BUSH A CHANCE

Michelle and Jesse are aflutter over a Newsweek article that describes a compassionate Bush meeting with the grieving families of dead American soldiers, which is interesting because based on what Michelle and Jesse said about Newsweek the last time around, you'd think that they would have cancelled their subscription.

So powerful is the message about Bush's compassion, argue the Malkins, that "The Cindy Sheehan Bandwagon just lost its wheels."*

Oh, really.

What wingnuts like Michelle and Jesse don't "get" is that Cindy Sheehan is simply what she is - a mother, opposed to the war, who is able to command media exposure for her anti-war message.

It's not about whether or not Bush is sufficiently sombre (sober?) when he meets with the families of the fallen. It's not about whether or not he even meets with them... The war is the issue along with the lies and deceit that are spun to support it.

The question has been asked before, Jessechelle: What is the noble cause for which Cindy Sheehan's son died? Answers like "he died for his country" or "freedom isn't free" aren't good enough.

The Cindy Sheehan Bandwagon will "lose its wheels" if and only if the war suddenly becomes self-justifying. I think we all know how likely that is.

So do Jesse and Michelle.

*The "Bush Loves Moms of Dead Kids" meme apparently packs more wheel-knocking power than yesterday's smear by the Malkins, "Patrick Sheehan Has Filed for a Divorce."
